I’ve been reading mlive.com for years now. It’s in my opinion the best way to keep up to date on what’s going on in michigan. Unfortunately, they took what was an ok design and gave it a “fresh new look.” This new look has drawn the ire of many readers, but mlive media group apparently isn’t listening to the widespread criticism. Many users simply deal with it because of the fact that it’s a great source of news, I was among them, until now.

The big gripes I have with the redesign are:

The category and classified popups that appear when you hover over links.

The huge header with the big fat ad in it on top of the navigation header.

The header that follows you when you scroll.

I’ve written a firefox extension to fix these issues and hopefully make your experience on mlive palatable again.

Download the extension here

It was nearly three years ago when I last updated my old blog, Adventures in Nerdville. It was about the same amount of time since I had upgraded the OS on the server that hosts it. So I did what any self-respecting geek would do and reinstalled the OS with all the latest bells and whistles (read: stuff that was old news two years ago). I decided to blow away my old blog too and start fresh. So here we are.
